Discover P. Terry's Burger Stand

If you’re cruising through North San Antonio and spot the familiar orange-and-white sign for P. Terry's Burger Stand, it’s hard not to feel a little curious. Located at 530 N Loop 1604 W, San Antonio, TX 78232, United States, this spot brings Austin-born burger culture to the Alamo City in a way that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly simple.

The first time I stopped by, it was just after a long afternoon of errands. The drive-thru line moved quickly, which already set a good tone. Within minutes, I had a paper-wrapped cheeseburger, a side of crispy fries, and a thick chocolate shake in hand. The burger itself was straightforward: fresh beef patty, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and their signature sauce on a soft bun. No gimmicks, no towering stacks-just balance. And honestly, that’s part of the charm.

One thing that stands out is the commitment to quality ingredients. According to information shared by the company and widely noted in customer reviews, P. Terry’s uses fresh, never-frozen beef and sources cage-free eggs and all-natural chicken. In an industry where fast food often gets criticized for overly processed meals, this approach matters. The National Restaurant Association has reported that consumers increasingly prioritize ingredient transparency and freshness, and P. Terry’s clearly leans into that expectation.

The menu keeps things tight and focused. You won’t find pages of options. Instead, you get classic hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, hand-cut fries, and milkshakes. That limited menu actually works in its favor. By narrowing the scope, the kitchen maintains consistency and speed. During one visit, I watched the staff assemble orders with a rhythm that looked almost choreographed-grill, dress, wrap, repeat. It’s a streamlined process that reduces wait times without sacrificing quality.

What also impressed me was the price point. In a time when many fast-casual burger joints are creeping into double-digit territory for a combo meal, P. Terry’s remains relatively affordable. This balance between quality and cost is part of why it continues to earn strong local reviews. On platforms like Google and Yelp, customers frequently mention value for money alongside taste and service. Of course, like any restaurant, experiences can vary during peak hours, and occasionally the dining room may feel crowded, but overall consistency remains a recurring theme.

The location at 530 N Loop 1604 W is convenient for families, commuters, and anyone heading toward Stone Oak. Parking is straightforward, and the building itself carries a retro roadside aesthetic. It feels like a modern nod to the classic American burger stand-bright colors, simple layout, and a welcoming vibe. Inside, the dining area is clean and casual, making it easy to grab a quick lunch or sit down with friends after school or practice.

From a nutritional standpoint, burgers and fries are still indulgent comfort food. However, having options like a lettuce-wrapped burger or a veggie patty adds flexibility. Nutrition experts from organizations such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics often emphasize moderation and ingredient awareness rather than complete restriction. With transparent menu offerings and straightforward preparation, it’s easier for diners to make informed choices here than at many larger fast-food chains.

Over multiple visits, what keeps bringing me back isn’t just the burger-it’s the predictability. You know what you’re getting. The fries arrive hot and lightly salted. The milkshakes are thick but not overly sweet. The staff greets you with efficiency and a bit of Texas friendliness. In a crowded field of burger restaurants across San Antonio, that reliability builds trust.

For anyone searching for a dependable burger joint with a focused menu, fair pricing, and solid reviews, this San Antonio location delivers exactly what it promises: fresh burgers, quick service, and a casual atmosphere that makes grabbing a meal feel easy rather than rushed.

  • I love P Terry’s. I know I will always get a wonderful meal at a great price. But whoever made my burger this afternoon at stand #25 served me absolute PERFECTION. Best burger I’ve ever had. Cheese, sauce, lettuce ratio to bun was immaculate. I wish that Chef green lights with no traffic, perfect hair days and front row parking for the rest of your days. Legendary status.

  • Best p terrys in San Antonio. Please never change your soft fries and juicy burger methods. Very much like the Austin locations.

  • Fabulous place! Beautiful beef amazing skinny fries. The burgers are little but that's all you need. Us as Americans waste so much food. But not here it's all in my belly. Even dessert fits.

  • It was awesome! I had never been here before today and I went through the drive through around 3:30 this afternoon. The guys were polite and when the guy at the window saw i was on the phone he was kind. He communicated quietly so as not to disturb my call which was completely unnecessary but super considerate. The burger was delicious! It was juicy and filling. I got the double cheeseburger meal with a double chocolate shake. Everything was hot and tasted great. Thank you!

  • I love the beauty of the oldies set up. It’s a great looking place with oldies to listen to while you’re there. The burgers were requested toasted twice. We didn’t get them toasted, and they said they toast all of them. Ours felt like the way they feel from the bag when you eat them cold. That, honestly upset me a lot because the bread I tasted was very bad. Perhaps toasted, I may have liked it. I remembered that the last time was here, I didn’t like it either because of the bread, and I hadn’t reviewed. So here goes my opinion. The burgers are okay, a 3 at most, and it’s not because of the sauce. Their sauce is a 5. It’s delicious. It’s also super affordable. Two of us ate for 10.39!!! You don’t see that anymore, so I’m grateful for that, and I completely get why the patty can’t be too thick for that price! But, truly, it is the right amount of food, and you won’t feel overfull or broke. We have to appreciate them since most people purposely enlarge/add to their food plates and patty burgers to double the price The fries are blah until you add the pepper and salt, and then, they become top notch. I wish they’d just add it, but at the very least, they provide the pepper and salt shakers on the table. You don’t see that often. I loved that detail. They give three extra sauces before they charge. That was nice. We had two cheeseburgers and shared one fries for 10.39, saving us lots of money and allowing us to eat less of the fried stuff we try to avoid. I think everyone should definitely try P. Terry’s!! I know I may not consider it a 5 star burger joint, but it saves families a lot of money. Thank you, P. Terry’s. What would make it better would be jalapeños like Inn and Out, and I forgot to order them to see if they had any. :/ I don’t know if they have any here, but they are so needed.

  • Whoa! P. Terry’s took me back with the vintage cafe vibe inside and the oldies playing! This Restaurant was super clean including the bathroom! Awesome modern style with all glass panels with a incredible view outside. They also have outdoor dining which is a bonus! oh yea the food! I ordered the double cheeseburger added bacon and added the combo which includes a drink and fries. The burger was delicious and moist cooked to perfection the cheese and bacon, onion & pickles made it complete. The fries were good . I also treated myself to an Oreo shake! It was very tasty and thick just how I like them! Service was very helpful and friendly! I was greeted as a came in and when I left! P. Terry’s made a friend today and I’ll be back for sure! 5 ⭐ a must try for the price and quality!

  • Darn good bacon cheeseburger at an excellent price! Place is clean. Customer service is no chick-fil-a......but on a Sunday, it'll do. Lol. Real potatoes fries are good too. Bonus points for an outdoor eating area. Oh and the chicken bites were a hit with my 3 year old. Definitely will be back when we want to feel satisfied without leaving feeling broke lol.

  • I have driven by this restaurant many times, but today, I saw the owner on social media saying the profit on Thursday goes to help the flood victims. So, on my first visit, I was impressed with the cleansing of the restaurant. The service is fast and professional. The burger is small but very tasty. The fries were served hot but not crispy. Good value for the meal. It's definitely worth visiting.
